As many of you may know, we established a new, Ponteland based, choir in September 2022 and that choir, of about 20 strong, are ready to take to the stage for their first performance!
Over the last six months, the choir have focused on building their 4-part harmonies as well as having some proper fun and social time – very easy to do when your rehearsal space is in a pub; the choir meets from 7-9pm on a Wednesday night in the conservatory room of The Badger pub in Ponteland and usually stay behind for drinks afterwards.
Being part of a Repertory society, the choir was keen to focus on some proper show tunes and this performance will showcase some of the best music from musical theatre over the last 85 years. A medley of Rogers & Hammerstein, songs from ‘Les Miserables’ and the Abba musical ‘Mamma Mia’ will form just part of the choral numbers with some individual singers showcasing their talents with solo and duet performances.
Musical Director Amy Baker had this to say; ‘The choir has come on leaps and bounds since its inception in late September, and we are excited to bring the music we have been working on to St Mary’s Church. The acoustics in the building are excellent and will really showcase the performance perfectly.’
Choir member Karen White who was not previously a member of the Repertory Society says that ‘the choir has been a great experience. Amy has been tremendously supportive of every level of ability, and it’s been great to meet new people as well as improve my vocal ability. I know I speak for everyone when I say that we are really looking forward to performing for you all’

The performance will be held on Friday 16th June 2023 at 7pm in St Mary’s Church, Ponteland. Tickets are £10 for adults and £6 for concessions.
